Wristwatch as a compass

If you have an analog wristwatch, then you can exactly define where the north direction is. Just be aware which hemisphere your standing position is when reading your watch.
(I have no idea how it works if you are in the equator, but I will ask my friend who lives in the 0-degree latitude to check it out)

In the northen hemisphere:
1. hold the watch horizontally
2. point the hour hand in the direction of the sun
3. bisect the angle between the hour hand and the 12 o'clock mark to get the north-south line. North will be the direction which is further from the sun.

In the southern hemisphere:
1. hold the watch horizontally
2. point the 12 o'clock mark in the direction of the sun
3. bisect the angle between the hour hand and the 12 o'clock mark to get the north-south line. North will be the direction which is closer to the sun.
